4.1 Western Visayas Medical Center
The first and only Medical Center in Western Visayas. This is a state-run hospital under Dr. Nicolo . The past Medical Chief also served for 19 years was Dr. Arturo Ardena . As general rule , a patient should have received medical attention 30 minutes from arrival in Emergency Room. As protected by constitutional rights of patient welfare , he has given orientation of its medical attention , appraisal of its ward , treatment protocol , rationale for laboratory work-ups and financial expenses to be incurred. The frequency of patient seeking admissions , surgery , emergency care , orthopedics, diagnostics, physical rehabilitation every day makes WVMC a highly congested hospital which strained the meager number of clinical staff to give quality health care , worsened by lack of wards to accommodate the in-patients due to the construction of Heart and Lung Center . Social Welfare Assistance ( SWA) through the Malasakit Center have contributed extensively to decrease the Medical Bills of the indigent patients.
