A. Orchard Valley Inc Farm
One organic farm is located in Tigum , Pavia , Iloilo owned by Architect Jhonny Que breeding high quality imported cattle such as Holstein and Sahiwal breed for the dairy interprise . The milking cows graze in the farm’s 10-hectare pasture land. These cows produced an nutritious organic milk through machine extraction. After undergoing homogenization process of the milk, it is sterilized at a high temperature of around 280 degrees F, so it can kept for up to two months . The farm supplies milk for all Coffeebreak outlets, Iloilo Supermart , as well as high end restaurants in the city including Amalfi , Cucina Italiana, Green Mango , Floyd's , Mojave Grill and Steakhouse, Bauhinia Filipino Cuisine, and Nothing but Desserts.
The farm also employs 46 employees including the cowboys tending to the vegetable plantation, cow’s milk production, organic poultry, and free-range animals and stock
Baskets of fresh rosemary, cabbage, arugula, basil, lettuce, Chinese kangkong, malunggay, mint, oregano, and other vegetables as well as selected fruits and poultry products are delivered to the six outlets of Iloilo Supermart in the major districts around the city available for the avid organic consumer.
Certified by the Negros Island Certification Services (NICERT), OrchardValley is the first and only certified organic farm that has passed its standards. NICERT is the first organic certification body accredited in the country by the Department of Agriculture

B. Organic Farms in Iloilo
The town of Oton
Tagbak Elementary School in the municipality of Oton has been recognized nationally for its organic farm. Many local and national agencies, both private and public organizations and as well as schools and universities all over the country have visited and conducted their research and study about organic farming in the said school
At present, the schools’ farmland contains different healing and profitable plants, such as broccoli, coli flower, parsley, cucumber, black rice, tomatoes, eggplant, peppermint, lettuce, celery, and many more, “ We have rich soil that we maintain with the use of night crawlers or natural decomposing earthworms, we are using Vermicomposting” said Mrs Caballero.
Vermicomposting is a method of using worms to transform organic waste into a nutrient-rich fertilizer. It is a healthy and clean way to eliminate wastes going into our landfills, which improves the environment. vermicomposting is inexpensive, and only takes two to three months to produce results.
Because of these, there school had received several recognition in their municipality, where they became grand slam awardee in organic farming, and they also awarded by the Department of education, division of Iloilo and became its partner in the project SCHOOL IN THE GARDEN. “ Our sacrifice is worth having awards, indeed, if you love nature, it will return back to you hundred folds of what you have sacrificed” Mrs. Caballero stressed.
Now, they have just granted by the local government unit of Oton of Jetmatic Deep Well Pumps for an easier watering of plants in their farm. Some organizations are also sponsoring to sustain the farm.

Through the collaboration of Leon LGU , SM Foundation Inc., Harbest Agribusiness Corporation, NGO Kahublagan sang Panimalay Foundation, and the Provincial Agriculture Office , organic farming was introduced to traditional farmers . Technology assistance and/or transfer. One such endeavor is the “Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan: Farmers Training Program.”
by enrollinf farmers in a training course to equip them with skills on how to farm without the use of pesticides. They train at an Ecofarm. Then, they apply the lessons in their communal farm where they plant lettuce, eggplants, mustard, bell peppers, chilies, radish, carrots, etc.
About 112 farmers graduated from the said training. They were given hope to expand their horizons when SM Supermarket offered them the chance to be a supplier in the future given that they meet certain requirements such as product quality and sizing.
